Who We Are

Gauteng Children’s Rights Committee (GCRC) is an NGO established in1999, initially as a provincial structure of the National Children’s Rights Committee (NCRC). GCRC acquired its independent legal status from NCRC in 2004. It is registered with the NPO office – Department of Social Development, with registration number 031 – 303.

Our main objective is to promote and protect the rights of children in Gauteng. This is done through different programmes and projects in its fold that address the 4 main areas of children’s rights namely; the right of a child to protection, development, survival and participation as outlined in the following policy and legislative framework.

OUR MISSION

GCRC shall act as “a Provincial mobilizing force for the rights and wellbeing of children by involving those who impact on their lives and development”.

OBJECTIVES

To advocate and facilitate all activities and programmes aimed at protecting and safeguarding the rights and responsibilities of children.

How to help

Services Offered

Our services target mainly children; in the context of their families and communities structures from disadvantaged communities such as informal settlements, townships and peri -urban areas in Gauteng.

At present GCRC is implementing the following programmes and projects in different communities throughout the Gauteng province.

  1. General Advocacy Programme on the Rights and Responsibility of Children.
  2. Sexual Harassment against Learners at Schools.
  3. Child participation.
  4. Clinical/ Psychosocial Services in Evaton and Braamfontein.
  5. Diepsloot HIV/AIDS Care and Support project.
  6. Diepsloot 100 children Resilience project.
  7. Weiler’s Farm community OVC care and support programme.
